Wines Remembering History

Hope Farm McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon

Wines remembering history are a feature of the Glug portfolio of brands. The heritage of the Australian industry should not be forgotten.

Hope Farm was the birthplace of production in McLaren Vale. George Pitches Manning planted the first vines at his Hope Farm in 1851. It is still the name carried on selected examples from that famous region.

P.B. Burgoyne, the first major exporter of Australian wine to the United Kingdom, is a symbol of Glug Wines acting as a wine merchant. At our Barossa winery we blend and bottle wines from other vignerons just as Burgoyne did in the 19th century.

Light & Finniss recalls the contribution of two South Australian pioneers.

Auld and Burton exported the first wine with a “critter” label with their Emu brand.

Captain Charles Harvey Bagot, who founded Koonunga, deserves not to be forgotten and Bagot Station does the old gentleman proud. Itis now one of our best sellers.

The wine merchant Oakley Adams was founded in Melbourne in 1871. Beginning as importers
of wines and spirits and former owners of Yarra Valley vineyards, the company now acts for us as a
