Biodynamics should earn PM Albanese some stick

A cow's horn stuffed with manure

Biodynamics should earn Anthony Albanese some stick not his decision to drink a glass of $500 a bottle of wine at a Margaret River vineyard.

The PM came in for criticism when a short holiday break with his partner Jodie Haydon included a wine tasting at Cullen Wines where he tasted some of the 2017 Cullen Vanya Flower Day Cabernet Sauvignon which retails for $500.

WA Liberal Senator Michaelia Cash thought this was a bit rich.

Every Australian deserves a decent holiday, (but) we can’t help but wonder if our Prime Minister has lost touch with the struggles of everyday Australians,’ she told The West Australian.

The PM's visit to Cullns reported in th West Austra;ian

‘Many Australians are battling with even the basics this Christmas – let alone tasting expensive bottles of wine.”

A bit churlish of the Senator. A more telling criticism would have been chiding him for choosing a so-called biodynamic winery for his outing.

Perhaps Federal Science Minister Ed Husic should arrange a briefing for him explaining that biodynamics is at best a pseudo-science with its specific compost and field preparations. Preparation 500 consists of cow horns stuffed with manure compost which are then buried in the ground through winter. Preparation 503 is a concoction of chamomile flowers encased in a cow’s intestine which is also buried through the winter and later excavated.

Surely associating with such nonsense Biodynamics should earn PM Albanese some stick.
