Blending Old and New for a Better Wine

Blending old and new for a better wine is something we are happy to experiment with in the Glug Wines winery. And with Glug South Australia Cabernet Malbec NV we have come up with $7.80 worth of absolute delight.

Glug Cabernet Malbec NV

Some of our customers might remember back in July 2017 we released four Trial Bins, Bin 542, 5640, 5210 and 5110. They were South Australian red blends covering several vintages and varieties. The Trial Bins were developed from a fortuitous purchase of premium bulk wines which were blends of mixed vintages and varieties. Wineries do this to consolidate left-overs after bottling large blends. Because such blends become non-vintage they can be purchased at favourable prices. Good wines at favourable prices is what interests Glug.

This Glug Cabernet Malbec has a similar origin though the Malbec component of exceptional grade was added by us. It has transformed the wine.

Brilliant low-priced drinking in my view.

The biggest seller in our non-vintage range is a wine we call The Universe. As a poet once said, “the whole UNIVERSE is in a glass of wine”. Try it for $14.40 and see if the muse catpures you.

And blending old and new for a better wine does enable us to make a quality quaffer like our The Jackman South Australia Dry Red Blend No.11 N.V.

I call the Jackman a kitchen wine, you have a few glasses and add a half cup to the brown sauce. Rocketing to fame as a best seller. Just $6 a bottle.
