The Adelaide Plains – Gawler Wine Region lies on the flat plains to the north of Adelaide. The plains aew the market garden for the city and vines go back to the first settlements. The low altitude and the distance from cooling influences of the sea create a hot environment. Currently the region is seen as less favourable for vines than most other regions.
